Here’s 10 thoughtful Gifts for Dad that can make him feel special.

The bedroom…aka cave, was entirely dark, save for the single beam of a flashlight cutting across the mattress and striking against the far wall. On the bed ummm…I meant fortress…since at least eight pillows were strategically placed in a circle with blankets propping them up. Oh! Did I mention a bedsheet tied up in the curtain rods that was clearly doing a terrible job of hiding my two criters whose heads were clearly unable to fit under the cover of the sheet; which was quite short after they tied it up. Hubby and son-son(my energetic four year old who refused to fall asleep) sat cross-legged, deeply engaged in a silent (somewhat silent because hubby was being scolded by his mini counterpart) high-stakes battle of Dino Shadow Planet Monsters.

The game had entirely fabricated rules that my son was making up as the game progressed. Hubby twisted his knuckles, throwing a sprawling, multi-tentacled shadow onto the bedroom wall. “Behold,” he whispered in a gravelly space-villain voice. “The D-Rex Kracken. No one can defeat its crush-grip.”

My son didn’t hesitate. He thrust his hands into the light, crossing his wrists and flapping his fingers wildly. A highly erratic, slightly misshapen bird silhouette flickered across the wall, aggressively overlapping the monster. “No Daddy! My Robot-Tetradactyl just ate your nose!” A not so gentle reminder that son-son is extremely competitive and detests losing any competition.

Hubby let out a dramatic, muffled gasp,(trying not to burst out laughing since he was unexpectedly caught by his child’s response) collapsing backward onto the pillows as his shadow collapsed with him and the sheet whose ties became undone and fell with him as well. Son-son erupted into giggles, throwing himself onto his daddy’s chest suddenly turning into a tickle monster catching his father off guard if only for a few seconds. Lots of laughs and giggles continued and I was happy that it was the beginning of the weekend because the bedroom looked a hot mess and I was not in the mood to get into it. It was a completely free, entirely spontaneous twenty-minute game of laughs and giggles. But as hubby wrapped his arms around his son, the message was clear: to a child, a father isn’t defined by grand gestures, but by his willingness to climb into their imagination and stay there awhile.

Father’s Day is just around the corner, and while you can’t wrap a core memory like a late-night dino shadow tickle war, you can give him something that honors his daily dedication, hobbies, and hardwork. If you want to show him how deeply he is loved and cherished, here are the top 10 trending best sellers and premium practical gifts for Dad.

Whether you choose a high-tech gadget to upgrade his daily routine or a simple book filled with handwritten messages, the best gift is one that acknowledges the energy he pours into his family every single day. I’m pretty sure he won’t mind spending time with the family during a nice dinner with his favorite bits and bites.

Put together a simple platter of oven fried chicken wings(cause we try to be healthy and save time too) with a one or two dipping sauces, accompanied with some fries or mashed potatoes. Pair with his fav drink of choice and a nice family movie for more cherished memories on the special day. Happy planning!!!
